There are innumerable channels through which you can broadcast your artwork. What’s harder is finding a space that’s faithful to your vision.
Owning a website is having your art manifest on the computer screen – a blank canvas, as it were. Everything about the website is editable and I’m here to make it your own. An artist’s website can work alongside social media and let you speak without adverts, clutter or third-party branding.
Obtaining commissions
Many creative sites err when it comes to practical details. Visitors enjoy the artistry but are left unsure on what you offer, whether you’re available, or how to brief you. A few features can solve that:
- What kind of work you take on
- Commission processes and typical starting points
- Lead times and availability
- Licensing, usage, or print information where relevant
- How to contact you with the right questions
A website can spell these out in a way that’s elegant and inviting, outside the distractions of the attention economy. You can gently guide visitors towards making an enquiry, 24/7, in a way that builds a relationship and encourages healthy connection.
Maintaining Portfolios
I realise how important it is for you to manage and update your content. When you’re on a creative spree or holding an exhibition, the last thing you need is a locked door on your portfolio. However your artwork is displayed, you can be sure that galleries, slideshows and commission details are easily updated from the dashboard. You’ll be able to add and delete images and edit the all-important meta tags that help your work get recognised on search engines.
That being said, those who are not inclined to edit their websites don’t have to; I’m available at short notice to make small edits, update galleries or give whole areas of the website an overhaul.
