Overview
On the face of it, copywriting doesn’t sound particularly exciting. It’s just words, right? Easy enough to prompt in an LLM and paste into your website. Why bother running it by a professional?
The truth is, a great deal of thought goes into making sure a website speaks confidently, excitedly and persuasively. Not only must your content read well, it should have the key ingredients to move your site up the search rankings. This requires more than the siloed input/output of a quick chatbot.
Why not use AI?
If you don’t spend time thinking about your content, why should visitors read it? As impressive as AI-generated content might seem, relying on it leaves a… strangeness… that your readers will be quick to notice.
In the same way that we can tell between purpose-built and dropshipped, the public have a fundamental and intuitive sense of when something is machine-written. That notion, subtle though it is, posits the idea that you don’t care how you communicate. That you took shortcuts. Visitors will form their own judgments about this; it’s up to you whether that risk is worth taking.
How I write
My writing is copyscaped, SEO-friendly and ranks highly in online Flesch scores. As well as words on the page, I provide keyword-focused meta titles and descriptions, content strategy for your website and thorough schema.org rich snippets. These are not silver bullets in themselves, but are marginal gains towards a better-ranking website.
I rarely write in a vacuum, but clients sleep easy knowing the same guy who’s coding their website, understand its meaning. That ability to switch between code and semantics is worth its weight in gold.
