Why hire a human?
It’s a valid question. In this day and age you can quickly assemble a website using theme builders, drag and drop editors and free templates. Why spend the time and effort paying a freelance web designer?
In a nutshell, everyone’s a critic. As tools rush to embrace AI, the public grows discerning. With respect to the automated templates, visitors can spot them a mile off. Websites form the vital first impression of a business; it stands to reason that they should look considered.
Besides appearances, you also want your website to work under the hood – search engine optimisation, speed, server health, mobile layout – the list goes on. The qualities are too complex and multi-faceted for any single piece of software. That’s where I come in.

Fuss-free Projects
A freelancer is one person. That means you have one point of contact, answerable to you and only you. You need not juggle between front and back end, designer and developer, writer and SEO consultant. Nor are you tearing your hair to shreds integrating one program into one another, losing data and racking up hefty subscriptions. I have all manner of skills and contain them to one project. When you need me, I’m here. When you don’t, I’m at arm’s each.

Local Connections
I am a director at Norfolk ProHelp, a branch of Business In The Community (BITC) that serves charities and nonprofit organisations, and am a regular member of Norfolk Community Foundation’s Good for Good scheme. I’m a previous contributor to Norfolk Tech Journal, and have received support from the NWES Enterprise centre, whom I cannot recommend enough. For a more ad hoc explanation of my business and web designers in general, have a listen to my interview with Norwich’s Future Radio.

Other interests
It’s something of a tradition for professionals to list extracurriculars on their About page. I suppose it grounds us, assuring you that your custom goes towards a real person’s living.
For my part I’m a man of many hobbies. Some are fleeting, others span epochs. When I am not at the computer, I am commonly found doing some of the following.

Cuddling dogs
I spend an inordinate amount of time fussing over my two wonky hounds, and I don’t regret a minute of it. This one’s called Meffie. She is a hodgepodge of many breeds, with none of their brains.

...and cats
Due to aforementioned dogs, I pine for the cats I cannot have. Psst psst psst!

Miniature painting
Offscreen time is precious, and often spent dabbing tiny paintbrushes onto tiny models. My most prized collection are a Prince-themed dwarf army called The Purple Reign.

Miniature wargaming
Pushing painted armies from the 1990s around a table is the closest I can get to time travel, and I’m all for it.

Norwich
Yeah that’s right, Norwich is a hobby. Wandering the cobbles, soaking up the gigs, browsing the N&N Arts festival or Diceni. ‘Tis a fine city with a hundred lifetimes worth of fulfilment.

Running
I love a Parkrun. It’s not so much about goal-setting as it is post-match cake at Eaton Park. Here is me at Run Norwich, pondering a sticky cold gateaux.
